All about Keith
Early years…
I was born in 1968 in Ormskirk, Lancashire a small town in between Liverpool and Manchester. I lived in Aughton, an even smaller village just outside Ormskirk, and went to school at Ormskirk Grammar School followed by Liverpool University where I studied computer science to BA(Hons.) and MSc level. I then went on to undertake research on advanced image processing concepts resulting in the publication of several peer reviewed scientific papers including:-

Career…
In 1995 I joined a startup Internet Service Provider call U-NET. It was a privilege to work alongside some great people and it had the kind of startup energy that makes that kind of venture so rewarding. We pushed the boundaries of technology and provided an excellent and innovative service for the next few years before the company was sold to VIA Net.Works.
Via had money but simply didn’t understand the business they were in. I left in 2003 and was much happier for doing so. Unsurprisingly Via failed horribly and was wound up in 2005/06. Shame they didn’t listen to the people who knew the business 
VIA was pretty awful and after finishing there I felt the need to do something completely different so in 2003 I began a full time Law degree. I had a fantastic three years, met some great people and learnt a lot about a completely different subject. I feel honoured to have been able to go back and spend another few years endulging my academic side, I certainly appreciated it much more than I did during my first degrees. In July 2006 I was awarded the law degree from Lancaster University. Whilst it was a great day, I couldn’t help feeling sad that such a special time in my life was over.
Current…
Meanwhile on the career front, in 2006 I, with some former U-NET colleagues, setup an email hosting company called Simply Mail Solutions. I’m loving it! It has all the U-NET startup excitement with none of the VIA madness and politics. SMS, as we call it, provides truly high quality email solutions from one box upto thousands for companies and individuals alike.
I’m happily married to Helen with whom I do professional wedding/portrait/product photography. Can’t be computers *all* the time now can it
